Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, BSN preferred
Experience / Qualifications
- Current RN licensure in the state of Florida
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience as an RN, Oncology experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of clinical research experience.
- Professional nursing certification preferred (OCN, RN-BC, etc)
- Experience in oncology and/or cardiology preferred.
- Clinical research certification preferred.
- Trained in FDA Good Clinical Practices for research.
Position Summary
The Clinical Research Nurse is responsible for adhering to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to clinical trial execution.
- Assists with recruitment, evaluating eligibility, and registration of patients to clinical trials.
- Coordinates scheduling of patient’s research procedures; laboratory and radiographic assessments, admissions, and clinic visits.
- Coordinates study enrollment, protocol treatment, and completion of study requirements for clinical trial subjects.
- Provides protocol education to patients and families; adapts interactions based on the age-specific needs of the patient.
- Collects and prepares required specimens for analysis and monitors test results, as appropriate.
- Ensures source documentation of protocol eligibility, reviews adverse events, and concomitant medications, while meeting FDA Good Clinical Practice standards.
- Assists principal investigator with protocol development.
- Assists the principal investigator as appropriate with the protocol review process.
- Collaborates with the Research Manager in developing protocol-specific materials.
- Serves as backup research coordinator for National Cancer Institute, pharmaceutical-sponsored, and National Cooperative Group protocols.
- Collaborates with staff within AFCI and outside organizations in the completion of clinical research trials.
- Works collaboratively and functions as an effective member of the healthcare team.

Physical Requirements
This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.

- These threshold requirements are required and completed yearly basis.
- Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation.
- TB/PPD Surveillance Program
- Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).
