Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Graduate of an accredited Advance Practice nursing program with either a Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) degree or Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) degree

Experience / Qualifications

• AHA Certification Requirements Vary by Respective Area

• Holds a current license as an ARNP in the state of Florida
• A minimum of 2 years of Cardiovascular Critical-Care hospital experience
• Clinical expert in Cardiovascular nursing practice and in the delivery of evidence-based nursing interventions
• Specialized skills to integrate care across the continuum and through three spheres of influence:  patient, nurse, system
• Able to create environments through mentoring and system changes that empower nurses to develop caring, evidence-based practice to alleviate patient distress, facilitate ethical decision-making and respond to diversity (The Consensus Model for APRN Regulation)
• Demonstrates critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning skills
• Demonstrates strong problem solving, teamwork and consensus-building
• Provides a positive influence to improve outcomes and satisfaction of the patients, families, nurses, and the healthcare team
• Ability to collaborate effectively as a team leader in a dynamic health care environment
• Demonstrate expertise in caring for patients across the adult age continuum

Position Summary

• This position will be working closely with the pulmonary physicians to manage sleep patients.
• Manages comprehensive and individualized care through the inpatient or outpatient phase in collaboration with the pulmonologist by utilizing the best available evidence to guide practice interventions.
• Enhance and implement the delivery of optimal patient care and evaluate compliance to improve patient outcomes.
• Provide consultation to the pulmonary physicians and healthcare team; patients and families.
• Utilizes teaching, learning theory and appropriate teaching strategies in the provision of education to patients and families
• Collaborate with the Clinical Manager and Executive Director, Service line to serve as leaders, change-agents and advocates at all levels to create innovative solutions for pulmonary patients as well as assisting with quality measures
• Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Rounds
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to assure the delivery of efficient and coordinated care
• Responsible for reconciling patient discharge medications
• Mandatory phone calls on all patients that are discharged to monitor care on a consistent continuum.
• Participates in research activities appropriate to education, experience and environment

Position is a salaried position with flexibility of time depending on the needs of the patients and Pulmonary office; occasional call required.

Physical Requirements

This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time.  The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.

  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
  • TB/PPD Surveillance Program
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).
